Unit holders may request a physical or electronic copy through SMS, email, telephone or written request.

Voluntary Locking/ Unlocking of Mutual Fund Folios

In order to promote digital security of the investors and restrict the access for transaction by any entity other than the investor himself/ herself, the facility to lock the folio is made available to investors. Below are the key features of this facility.

The facility to lock the folio for units held in Non Demat mode is made available to the investors through the MF Central Platform. Please note that for units held in Demat Mode the request for lock will need to be separately submitted to the Depositories. MF Central will provide an option to lock holdings by redirecting investors to the online services of the respective depositories

Applicability

The facility will be available for the following:

  • Resident and Non-Resident Individual Investors
  • The facility to lock shall be available only to sole/ first holder in the folio , held in single/ Anyone or Survivor Basis
  • For Minor folios - Guardian shall only be allowed to lock / unlock until the Minor attains Majority. Post attaining majority, Locking and Unlocking will be allowed to the Unit holder.
  • The folios should be KYC complied(Registered/ Validated) to avail the facility.
  • The folios should have both a valid Email and an Indian Mobile No. registered to avail the facility.

Applicable Transactions

Investor will have option to lock the following transactions ( only investor initiated) in the folios selected for locking:

  • Lock only debit transactions
  • Lock debit + non-financial transactions

List of transaction types which would be considered for locking/freezing as below:

All other transactions other than the above, including existing SWP, STP, DTP (registered prior to locking the folios) will continue to be processed during the lock period.

Besides the above all non-investor-initiated transactions including updation of address from KRA, IDCW payout/ reinvestment etc. will continue during the lcok period. Further in case of any requests/ orders received from Law enforcement Authorities (LEAs) or Regulators will be actioned upon irrespective of the lock.

Process for Locking/ Unlocking the folios

Locking the folios

  • Investors will need to log in to the MF Central Portal. by completing all the validation process which includes providing PAN Mobile/ Email.
  • Upon successful validation the fund name and the respective investment/holding details will be displayed.
  • Investors will then need to select the option to lock the transaction type and Fund name and folio that he/ she chooses to lock. Once selected, OTP will be sent to the registered mobile/ email.
  • Upon successful validation of the OTP, the request will be submitted. MF Central will send the requests to respective Registrar and Transfer Agent to lock the folios.
  • The selected folios would be instantly frozen in the RTA database for holdings in physical moderate will send confirmation to the investor for the folios locked.
  • The lock will remain until revoked by the investor.

Unlocking the folios

  • Investors will need to log in to the MF Central Portal. by completing all the validation processes which includes providing PAN Mobile/ Email.
  • On successful validation the fund name and the respective investment/holding details will be displayed
  • Investor will then need to select the option to unlock the transaction type and the Fund name and folios that he/ she chooses to unlock.
  • Two levels of authorization by sending different OTPs to the registered mobile and email would be mandated for unlocking the folios. Both OTPs should get validated for removing the freeze successfully from the folios.
  • Upon successful validation of the OTPs, the request will be submitted. MF Central will send the requests to respective Registrar and Transfer Agent to unlock the folios.
  • RTAs will send confirmation to the investor for the folios locked.
  • Unlocking folios would not be allowed for 48 hours from the time/date of locking the folios.
